Yesterday, during our holiday roll, I was excited to promote JC to the rank of solid grey belt. JC was my first hybrid student as he started with our kids program but had a huge growth spurt and I had to move him to the adult program were as usual is very hard in the beginning for them but once they grow into the program they take off ! JC is also our first solid grey belt !

PS - proud coach moment when he made his competitors at his tournament tap from pressure 🙂

I tell my students often times that the impromptu tournament competitions are often well suited for people.... These two brothers (Nick and KJ) decided to jump into a local NAGA tournament and both did amazing ! Nick had some really tough matches and was able to take silver in a group of 8 kids. KJ went out there on his first competition and took first and earning the NAGA belt. KJ is our schools first competitor to bring home a belt 💪🏽

So proud today to be able to promote Dan to the rank of blue belt in jiu jitsu. Dan started training jiu jitsu after having his kids do it. He also competed when his kids decided to compete. Always setting a great example to his two little ones, and I am also fortunate to have him as an assistant coach to our little kids program. Last but not least, now we can all feel a tad bit better getting that work from Dan that he has some color around his waist 🤣

Jess and Justin first time coaching the kids at a tournament, and Jess was able to coach both Dylan and Lucas to gold. Justin coached Todd to gold and Madden to silver.
Both of them were able to show the kids poise and give them the help and confidence to give it their best. More importantly, Jess and Justin gave their hearts out to them and it`s an experience that I am certain that they and the kids will never forget !

Lost my vocal cords today at Grappling Industries at Rahway, and my heart is finally settled down. Two years ago, when I first started the school, I had no idea how strong my heart would be pulled by all the little ones in the kids` program.
Starting from scratch was both challenging, but between them and I, we made it our own. Today was the first time we went out with them as a school, and they truly gave it their all !
The kids were able to obtain x3 gold medals, x1 silver, and x1 bronze.
Also, I`m super proud of our three adults who competed (who are also our little kids` program assistant coaches) and together they obtained x2 gold medals and x2 silver medals in both Gi and no-gi.
Two big milestones for us today as Dylan is the school`s first competitor to win double gold, and Melissa is our first blue belt gold winner.
We are definitely progressing, and I can`t wait to witness the continued evolution of all their individual art.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support and big thank you to Kevin, Jess, Justin, and Jim for the huge help with coaching today !
