This weekend I had the pleasure of promoting Madden to the second rank of Grey belt. This young man stays busy with other sports but makes sure his schedule stays open all year to train jiu jitsu and its great to see his technical ability continue to get better and better. Congratulations young man !

Such a joy when people surprise you and come through and train at the school. Today I had such an amazing surprise when my Godson @aidanc.davis stopped by and rolled with us.... Aiden wrestled at St Benedicts in High School and jumped right in and rolled with us at the school and gave us all a good roll !

Heart is still so full. Yesterday I had the absolute honor and joy to promote my twins Justin and Jason to the rank of purple belts in jiu jitsu.
Justin and Jason were the reason I went back to jiu jitsu because at the age of five I enrolled them and I saw them working hard and decided I had to work hard alongside them.
Justin and Jason were also instrumental in me starting my own program as with them I had two built in skilled students that I could pair with any of my students including children.
Love you my twins @justin_mrodas and @jason_mrodas

After 30 years in law enforcement, today I have officially retired.
As a five-year-old coming from Guatemala, I never imagined I would one day live out my dream job. Not a day went by that I wanted to be anything other than be a police officer. This career shaped me in ways words can’t fully capture. I’ve seen the very worst of humanity, but I’ve also had the honor of working alongside some of the most dedicated, selfless professionals I will ever know—men and women who show up every day willing to put others before themselves. Law enforcement was never just a job. It was a calling, a responsibility, and a commitment I carried with pride—a feeling shared by those who choose this profession. There was always purpose, growth, and the privilege of serving a community that mattered deeply to me.
To my colleagues and friends in the profession—thank you for the trust, the lessons, the laughs, and the bond that only shared experiences like these can create. I am grateful beyond words to have stood beside you. Never forget as the leadership coin quotes “If you do this job properly, there is nothing more noble you will do with your life”.
To my family—thank you for your patience, sacrifices, and unwavering support. You carried this career with me through long hours, missed moments, and difficult days, and I could never have done this without you. I hope I made you proud !
As I close this chapter, I do so with gratitude, humility, and pride. While the badge may come off, the values, lessons, and relationships will stay with me for life.
I thank God for putting people around me to keep me safe. May he continue to protect those out there still serving and protecting.
Here’s to what was… and to what comes next.
Thank you all for being part of this journey.
